Wonderfully different and brilliantly rewarding!
Come and try our 2 hour surfskate lesson in London. It’s about trying something new at a later stage of your life to experience the benefits that this can offer. Balancing on a wooden board requires immense, total concentration. It’s incredibly mindful.
As our lives become increasingly intertwined with screens and algorithms, a desire to disconnect and re-connect with something so polar is becoming increasingly essential.
Surfskating is a form of skateboarding that feels more like surfing or snowboarding, with lovely flowing turns. It's really fun, and a great way to spend time outdoors whilst socialising and being active.
We’re running 2 hour mid-week sessions for groups of 6-20 people to come and learn the very basics to begin with. This builds a solid foundation of how to feel confident on the board, ensuring you are ready to progress safely and at the right pace.
Sessions are held on week days at the Decathlon in Canada Water or, when the weather is on our side, at some flats courts on Clapham Common with a range of places to have lunch or an evening social afterwards.
Min 6 - Max 20 persons
These sessions begin with a gentle warm up and a review of safety tips, including how to get on and off a surfskate safely, when stationary and when moving.
You'll then begin to learn some gentle turns and carving - usually people are enjoying the flow of surf skating within 10-15 minutes!
Exercises with cones will then help to build good turning technique, and surfskate pumping technique, which helps you generate your own speed without putting your foot down. These sessions are full of fun activities to make the most of your new surfskating skills!
Indoor sessions will have ramps out to get you off to a good start with riding on ramps safely and with style.
"We would like to give 5/5 for Pete's coaching session for sure. He is professional, friendly, and supportive. He checked every aspect before our session, and prepared all the boards and protective kits for us. The one hour session is well planned, from basic how-to to the fun 'wave-riding' experiences. Highly recommend!"
